Just today, October 27, I woke up and put on some music to check my e-mail with and my computer was acting very weird. The sound was really choppy and the mouse was freezing constantly.
Another thing is that if I just play the music with no programs running, it still sort of skips. I was on my laptop last night doing homework and it was working fine, so I'm really confused as to why this did this all of a sudden. I saw on the web that others were having problems with this too and that's when I came across this site. I've ran multiple scans on it and it has came up clean two times now so I don't think I have a virus, but maybe I do who knows.
My friend actually had this happen to him about a month ago and his is still bad, he hasn't had the time to fix it or anything. So if anyone has any ideas on how I can fix this it would greatly be appreciated! If there is a major failure on the way "not saying there is or anything" but if there is, always backup before you lose it. But even before backing up, do 1, 2, 3, first, then before you go to 4, backup anything possible.
Take the side cover off and make sure all fans are running when you start it, mainly the CPU fan on the MB. If everything is running and clean it can still be a power supply so while doing the next step, make sure cover remains off and you can view if the fans stop at all. If all is well, boot into your OS, assuming it's Windows, do a defrag, clean up whatever you can, junk files, etc See what applications are running in Task Manager, shut down non-system tasks one by one to isolate the issue if it's an application causing this.
Make sure you scan for malware, viruses, trojans, etc Could be a hard drive going bad, I have seen this happen when the paging file gets worn out or simply when a hard drive is going kaput. It could also be a bad stick of RAM in which case you would have to remove a stick at a time and see if this occurs, of course if you only have one stick, you will have to do a mem check. So, there are a lot of likely scenarios but not necessarily a major issue, just good to be sure of a few things before more damage occurs.
NOTE: this is guesswork unless you post me your system specs. Makemodel, OS, and other specs.Akkage kimba wal katha

Click here to join today! My computer keeps Joined: May 27, Messages: 3. Hello, I'm the to these forums. I started noticing this really annoying skip in my computer last night while watching videos on Youtube last night. My computer screen skips every 2 seconds, for half a second. And it just does this over, and over, and over. It does it when I'm playing games, my computer would skip every 2 seconds, or when I'm just idle on my desktop, I just move my mouse around, same thing.
My guess is that, it's something running in the background I have no idea. I need some help. TheNobodyMay 27, Joined: Jun 18, Messages: 1, JoanyoungMay 27, Joined: Nov 8, Messages: It is probably a problem with your graphics card drivers.
Update them from the manufactures website. If you dont know what graphics card you have Wu-tangMay 27, Joined: May 3, Messages: 22, I second the video card driver or the video card itself. Rich-MMay 27, Goodnight hope you solve your problem Rich-M is here joan.
If it isn't the driver then it's the card. Does it have a fan and can you watch it to see if it shuts down? Well, I just finished defragging and checking my computer for errors. The defragging went pretty quickly and I didn't find any errors with the harddrive.
All the fans inside my computer work, I opened it up to check. I'm really hoping it isn't the graphics card itself because I don't have any money to replace it lol.Log in. Ask a Question. It's possible the card itself has a problem, but more likely its a bottleneck somewhere. Could also be a weird driver issue some other hardware's driver conflicting with the 's driver.

A bad stick of RAM could also cause this. Did the problem arise after a hardware change 3 months ago? Was it working fine before with all the same hardware? You may want to consider a clean install of Windows time-consuming but if you can't play games you should have plenty of time on your hands.
The only thing I see as unnecessary is the DVD drive. Which drivers should I uninstall? Nothing changed. So if there's a problem with the RAM then both sticks must be faulty.
That's still possible but unlikely. It made no difference. First things first, is it just games that are lagging, or are you experiencing slightly longer load times with other applications? If this is the case, make sure that the harddives SATA cables are well seated both power and data. If you have a spare SATA data cable I would also try that- it isn't uncommon for these cables to deteriorate some aren't the best quality either, especially some of the rigid variety.
Apart from this, it could be: RAM issue as hood intimated bad RAM would also make other apps lag in loading and saving.Breaking scorpio trust
The other program I refer to is Mem Set which you need not concern yourself with unless you want to find out detailed info about your RAM. Graphics card issue. Make sure the two PCI-E power cables are well seated in the cards power plugs. If these are fine The latest stable Nvidia driver for the GTX is Run and note any difference, if there is none See how you get on with these.
If the problem persists we can at least rule out these causes and maybe narrow down the problem.Answer: If you watch videos online and they skip or do not play back smoothly, there are two possible culprits: 1 your computer, or 2 your Internet connection.
Slow processing may affect both the audio and video, but it usually affects the video first. This may happen if you have an older computer with a slow CPU that cannot render high-resolution video in realtime. Some video formats use advanced compression algorithms that require extra processing, which can be taxing on slow CPUs.
However, some tablets and smartphones have slower processors that may not be able to play back certain videos smoothly. For example, if you are at a coffee shop and everyone is sharing the same bandwidth from a single routeryour data transfer rate may be slow. If this rate is slower than the data per second required for the video, the playback may be choppy or stop completely. Online videos are typically buffered as they are played back. This means your device downloads a few seconds of video ahead of the current playback location.
By buffering the video, the playback will not stall when the Internet connection temporarily slows down. However, if the slowdown lasts long enough, the playback may reach the end of the buffer and the video will stop. Important: Some web-based video hosting services, such as Twitch and YouTubecan detect your screen size and Internet connection speed.
Based on this information, the service sends you the highest quality video that can be played smoothly on your system. However, if you notice the video playback skips or is inconsistent, you can reduce the resolution for example, from towhich may provide smoother playback. This option is typically located in the lower right corner of the video window. What is an HTTP error? What does "URL expired" mean?

Page 1 of 2 1 2 Last Jump to page:. It seems like my pc is skipping frames or something? Because it just doesn't feel smooth it is really ruining the game experience for me. I disabled all my addons to see or it was caused by that but it did not fix anything. I repaired WoW, nothing changed and still the problem. Checked the heat of my processor etc. Whenever I tab out of game and back in, it runs smooth again for a few seconds. In windowed mode it is gone, but my fps in raids goes really fucked because of all particles and it just doesn't run it as smooth as I want it to then.
Thanks in advance. Reply With Quote. I had a similar experience until I purchased an SSD. Yeah sadly enough I do not have the money for that right now. And I dont see why it would run fine for so long and then just bugger off into this. Btw drivers etc are all up to date and what not. How long has this been occurring? For me, it started with the beta for Mists of Pandaria and progressively worsened after release. I tried different drivers, bought a new video card Ti tofresh reinstall of Windows, and etc.
PFff no clue, I think for a month or 2 now at max, so not sure what is going on. I reinstalled windows recently, nothing changed. Originally Posted by Talyrius. Edit: Another thing that came to mind would be reverting back your GPU drivers. Try doing a full driver removal with Display Driver Unistaller and downloading older drivers from the time before you didn't have any problems. Originally Posted by Paintank. An easy way to rule-out your drive is by standing in an empty zone all surrounding assets will have fully loaded When I saw you mention GTX I immediately thought "that'll be it", because it's a dual-GPU card and many games don't particurlaly sit well with that.
